![]() That's 69 nice Verified / Playable vs 12 Unsupported games. So excluding VR games for obvious reasons to look at only games I'd even theoretically play on a handheld device. Of the unsupported games, 8 are VR games, 7 have AntiCheat related issues, and 5 have some Proton related bugs. I recently checked my Steam library with and so far, of my 399 games in my library, Valve has tested 89 of them, and found 42 to be 'Verified', 27 'Playable', and 20 'Unsupported'. To give an example of what this looks like in terms of numbers. So some games may have issues as a result that make them Unsupported for now. ![]() But if a developer has, for whatever reasons, not done their part to ensure their game is compatible with Proton, and that game has no Linux native release available either, there will be no way to play that game on SteamOS.Īnd side from that, Proton while awesome, is not perfect, sometimes it just has buGs. VR games will be Unsupported, for obvious reasons.Īs for anticheat, Valve has done everything humanly possible to make it easy for developers to enable anticheat compatibility with Proton. Games that have no Linux release and Proton compatibility bugs The reasons why some games will be unsupported will vary, but can be dumped into three categories mainly:Īnticheat protected games without Proton compatibility You can probably still try if you want to! But Valve is saying "We tested this*, and it doesn't work"*. Some games are 'Unsupported', meaning Valve is advising you don't run these games on the Deck. Some will be just 'Playable', meaning they may not be ideal on handheld but they can be certainly played (small text, game doesn't show correct controller glyphs etc). Some games will be 'Verified', meaning they're verified by Valve to be a great experience on handheld. ![]() For a game to run on SteamOS, it needs either:Ī native Linux release - or - To run well via Proton ![]() The Steam Deck will run SteamOS, which is a Linux based OS. ![]()
